I totally realize that every blogger on the planet is writing something about the dawn of a new year. I swore I wouldn’t be one of them. But, here I am writing about the promise of a new year. I couldn’t resist. I just love the smell of a new year! Bright, shiny, polished and untouched…just like a new car!
I’m not one of those new year’s resolution people. I’ve learned that those resolutions last a day or two (maybe a week) then when I inevitably failed, I ended up starting off my new year disappointed in myself. That’s not the way to start off a new year.
I do, however, like to take a few moments to reflect on the highs and lows of my auld lang syne. For me, 2011 was rather stagnant. No real highs and no real lows…just kinda steady. I won’t complain.
I have to admit that I have a blessed life. That’s not to say I haven’t had some tough times and some devastating disappointments. But somehow, with the Lord’s help I’ve managed to “survive, thrive and stay alive”…as they say. Thankfully, I’m an optimist. So, no matter what happens, I believe that all things work together for my good (that’s Romans). I’m always looking for and expecting God’s blessings and He never fails.
I’m prayerfully looking forward to 2012! I pray that everyone reading these words as well as my family, friends and co-workers have a wonderful, blessed and peaceful 2012. I’m praying for healthy relationships and full bank accounts. And finally I pray that everyone experiences God’s loving embrace as we begin our 2012 journey. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
